Well, I have spent most of my week relaxing and working on my entries for Stampin' Up!'s Artisan Award competition! There are a lot of components to the entry, and you one of the rules is, you cannot show the projects on your blog! So, as a result, I did not have a lot to share this week. That should change. My friend Martha is coming over for some stamping tomorrow, and hopefully I will get a bunch of cards made that I will share with you!
I love participating in Kristina's colour challenges, and I really love her colours this week! This card looks similar to a black and gray version I am making with my friend Jodie (yes same name and spelling as me) tonight. She has never stamped, so I am going to make a card with her. She did not want to make anything "fro-fee" (is that a word). So I teased her that she would be making a black, and gray tree. She did not believe me, but I like a challenge, and I knew that Season of Friendship would be perfect for her card. I will share that card tomorrow!
I started by stamping the tree trunk in Basic Black...now I know that tree trunks are not black, but they also are not pink, red or blue. So, it worked. I stamped the little bird in Bashful Blue and all the little flowers in Riding Hood Red, Regal Rose and Pretty in Pink. I am really happy with the final card. I really do miss using this set. I guess there is still small chance it will make it to the next cattie...lets hope! Have a great day! I started with a Basic Black card base. It is layered with Riding Hood Red, Basic Black and Riding Hood DSP (from the prints pack). The vertical panel has the little flowers on it. I used the last bits of my Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon (I will not be buying more, as we all know it will be retired in a few short months) to tie a cute little knot.
As a final touch, I stamped a few extra flowers on some scrap paper, as I knew I would be punching them out to pop up! I mounted this layer on Riding Hood Red, and popped it up from the Basic Black layer with dimensionals.
So pretty! Love that stamp set!!

Great card! Love how you popped some of the flowers up and the bird is just the right touch of blue!
