Liz's Birthday is not until the end of the month (Clint and Liz's Birthdays are a day apart), but because we seem to have A LOT going on right now, we celebrated her Birthday last night. Liz and I are HUGE Sex and City fan, so I purchased her the movie. I love making boxes and packages, so I decided to make a box to hold the DVD. Liz loves pink, and with it being sooo close to summer, I knew I had to use the new Melon Mambo. In the new cattie, they have paired Melon Mambo with PRetty in Pink and Basic Black, and I LOVE the combination.
To make the box, I measured the DVD, and scored my Melon Mambo card stock to fit the box. TIP: When creating a box, it is best to make a shell first out of scrap paper. I folded on the score lines and adhered the box together. I cut a separate flap. To decorated the box, I used Basic Black, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. I created my own DSP by stamping on Whisper White with Circle Circus and
Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and Basic Black ink pads.
To close the box, I created a medallion with a scallop circle, and the 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circles punches. A little paper piercing finished my medallion.
Of course, I HAD to make a matching card, and I have to say that I really love this card. I am pretty sure I will be re-creating this card using Rich Razzleberry later today.
The base of the card is Melon Mambo. It is layered with Basic Black and PRetty in Pink. I stamped the images (All from Circle Circus) with co-ordination inks. I added a small piece of Razzleberry Lemonade DSP across the bottom. Before attaching this layer to my card base, I added some new Melon Mambo ribbon and Black Hemp twine. This ribbon has polka dots on it, but when you turn the ribbon over, you do not see the dots. Pretty cool. The final touch was the greeting at the top and some paper piercing.
I hope you like the box! Have a great day!
