Kristina Werner Colour Challenge #36

    

Well, it's time for another colour challenge from Kristina Werner.  I was pleasantly surprised to see the colour this week.  Very bright and fun!  This colour combination is very similar to the Raspberry Tart DSP. I would have used more of that paper, but it has a lot of Cameo Coral in it, and not as my Pretty in Pink.  I decided to combined this colour challenge with today's sketch challenge from SCS.  Here is the card.

When I first looked at the picture that Kristina provided, I noticed that the pink's were more dominant.  I grabbed my Crazy for Cupcakes.  What is more fun that YUMMY pink cupcakes?

My card base is Pretty in Pink, and it is layered with Rose Red, and DSP from Raspberry Tart and Berry Bliss (retired).  After cutting, and placing out my panels, I decided it needed a little pop of the Old Olive, so I added a small ribbon.

 

I stamped my image on watercolour paper using my Stone Gray Stazon ink.  Remember that when you are watercolouring, it is important to use a permanent ink.  You might fine with you Basic Black or Gray that the ink bleeds into your colouring.

I used my Aqua Painted and ink pads to colour in the image.  The stand is Old Olive and the cupcakes are Rose Red and Pretty in Pink.

I had a lot of fun with this colour challenge.  I hope you like my card!

Hugs and Kisses Box

On Saturday night, I spent some time looking at different blogs to find some inspiration.  I was looking at Kimberly's blog, and I saw a box similar to the one I made.  I love making fun little boxes, and I knew this box would be perfect for Hersey's, Hugs and Kisses.  Kimberly got the original idea from Chi Chi, so I headed over to her blog to find the template.  I found the template, but I found the box very small, so I modified the dimension to create a slightly larger box!

 Here is the box.  It looks much larger in the photo, but really is quite small.  The box is made out of Close to Cocoa card stock.  I sponged the edges of the box to add more depth.  The little belly band is made with Pink Pirouette card stock and Candy Lane DSP.

I stamped my image (hugs and kisses, how fitting) on Very Vanilla, using Close to Cocoa ink.  I added some colour using my Blender Pen, and Riding Hood Red ink.

The photo below show the box open, and all of the "hugs and kisses" falling out!

Man Card

  This is another card I made using a sketch from SCS.  I am really trying to make more masculine cards, so I used my Game Night and Happy Everything stamp sets.

The card base is Basic Black and is layered with Garden Green and Jackpot DSP.  "Happy" is stamped using Garden Green and the dominos are stamped using Basic Black.

Just a simple card, that could be used for a man's birthday.

Tree Full of Love

As you all know, I love my Season of Friendship Stamp set.  This card, which I found on SCS, was my inspiration for this card.  When I saw how stampersandee used the tree, and put hearts in it, I knew I could recreate something similar by using my Love You Much stamp set.

 This card is 5.5"x5.5". The base is Close to Cocoa, and is layered with Pink Pirouette and Candy Lane DSP. 

I stamped the tree on Very Vanilla card stock using my Close to Cocoa ink.  Also, using my Close to Cocoa ink, I stamped the hearts on Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red card stock.  Before I attached any of the hearts to my tree, I placed them on the tree. Then I used dimensonals to pop up the larger hearts, and Tombow glue to attach the smaller hearts.  The Very Vanilla layer is attached to Pink Pirouette and Close to Cocoa.  I tied a simple bow with Riding Hood Red Ribbon. 

 The final step was stamping the "hugs & kisses" in Close to Cocoa on Very Vanilla.  I punched it out using my 1 1/4" circle punch and layered in on a 1 3/8" circle and a scallop circle.

I am very happy with the completed card.

Challenge from Heather

Last night Clint was out watching UFC.  I was at home, checking out some stamp blogs, looking for some inspiration to make a few cards.  I received an e-mail from Heather, my friend and up-line.  I sent her a reply, and decided to add a little P.S. that said, "I need some inspiration.  Send me a challenge, and I will post it on my blog tomorrow (today)."  She sent a reply that said "Use a retiring stamp set, no neutral card stock.  Brads and DSP are okay."  What a challenge, and I did ask for it.  First, other than hostess sets, I only have one set that is on the current retiring list (I have many that are retired, just not retiring).  Second, NO NEUTRAL CARD STOCK...has she lost her mind?  Here is what I came up with!

So I went to my stamp shelf and grabbed my Thanks for Everything stamp set.  Then went to my desk to select the DSP I would use.  I wanted to choose one that had a light colour that I could substitute as a neutral.  So I pulled out my favourite, Sweet Always.

The card base is Pink Pirouette, and is layered with Regal Rose and Sweet Always DSP.

Pink Pirouette is the "neutral" I used as the base for my base for stamping.  I stamped the word "thanks" in Regal Rose and layered it on Regal Rose card stock.  I added some paper piercing for some detail.  "So much" was also stamped in Regal Rose, and I used my Oval punches (all three) to create a label for the "so much".  Two silver brads complete the look.

Stampers Six Club!

Do you love Stampin Up products?  Would you like to be in a club, and make cards each month?

 

I will be starting a Stampers 6 club in January.  This club will meet once a month.  Each month, you will come to my house (on the last Tuesday), and make 3-4 cards.  Each month will have a different theme (thank-you etc.).  After you make the cards, you will place a $45 order (min. before shipping and taxes).  If you are unable to attend a club night, you will still be obligated to e-mail me your order.  I will provide you with all of the supplies for the cards made that night.  What a great way to build up your Stampin Up collection! 

 

On top of that, one of the months you will be the hostess, earn a level 1 hostess set, and $20 in free product (this could be more depending on the sales that night).  PLUS: When you join this club, I will give you a new 2009 Spring Summer Catalogue for free.

Ribbon Holder

  As promised, here is a picture of my new ribbon holder that Clint made for me for Christmas.  As you can see, I do not have a lot of SU ribbon (yet), but I think it will hold many rolls.  I will be getting some pins to hold the ribbon in place when I am not using it.  Thanks for the idea Heather!

Also, with the space on top of the shelf, I am able to have all of my punches easily accessible.

Butterfly Thanks!

I am going to start by saying, these photos do not do this card justice!  I am thrilled by the end result of this card and I have a new love for the Raspberry Tart DSP!  This card combines two challenges from SCS.  This weeks sketch challenge and today's Holiday Challenge.  The inspiration for the butterflies was from a picture posted in the Holiday Challenge.  I immediately grabbed my Winged Things set, my Aqua Painter and went to work. 

 The card base is Rose Red and is layered with Pretty in Pink and Raspberry Tart DSP.  I was really unsure about this DSP when I first used it.  There are some busy patterns in it, but I chose one that was simple and I love it.

For the stamped image, I stamped the butterflies twice on watercolour paper.  I used my Aqua Painter and ink pads to colour in the image.  The colouring took a fair amount of time, but was well worth it! 

The greeting is stamped in Rose Red and punched out with my Large Oval punch.  I layered it on a Wide Oval (Rose Red) and added two Silver Brads to make it look like a tag. 

After I had my card fully assembled, I cut out my two butterflies.  TIP: When cutting, hold you scissors still, and move the paper with your other hand.  You will get a much cleaner cut! Using a small amount of Tombow glue, I attached the butterflies and raised the wings.  They look like they are flying off the card.  You cannot see it in the photo, but they final touch was a small amount of Stickles to add a little BLING to the butterflies!

Now, the hard part will be deciding who to send this card to!  The watercolouring is very time consuming, so I cannot make this card for all of my Christmas thank-yous!  Check back later for pictures of my ribbon holder.  Have a great day!

Busy Little Bees

  I had a great Christmas!  Lots of wonderful gifts, and the best of all, great times with both of my families.  Clint and I are lucky to have both of our parents and all of our siblings (all 7 between the two of us) in the same city.  Everyone came to our house for Christmas Eve, and we split our time yesterday between both families.  My favourite gift is from Clint.  He built me an awesome ribbon holder.  I will get some pictures and post them tomorrow.

Onto the card.  I wanted to use te bees from Just Buzzin By.  I thought they would look super cute fluttering under the tree from Season of Friendship.  I stamped the bees and tree trunk in Close to Cocoa.  The bees are coloured in using my SU markers.  I stamped the flowers on th tree in So Saffron and Pumpkin.

The card base is Riding Hood Red, and is layered with So Saffron and Washington Apple DSP (I really hope this paper is in the next cattie).  Have a great Boxing Day!  Clint and I got some great deals from Old Navy and will be heading to my in-laws for some great turkey leftovers for dinner...YUMMY!
